Sana Smart Bread maker (standard)

Sana” is Latin for “healthy". The multi-function Sana Bread Maker is a great way to make your own healthy and delicious food.

The Sana Smart Bread Maker is the result of 20 years experience in bread baking. We have developed a unique multifunction home bread machine which we feel is the best on the market. This isn't just an empty claim – take a look for yourself at all the things you can do. It is available in three models - basic, standard, and exclusive. The machine itself is the same in all three models - the only difference is the included accessories.

Fully adjustable programs

Fully adjustable programs provide a chance to bake bread exactly to your liking. Flour of different grains have very specific characteristics and require different baking and rising times. The SANA bread maker offers 7 basic programs. However, they are are all easily adjustable. By editing and saving them, you can create other new programs. The possibilities are endless.

Programmable technology

The multifunction SANA Bread Maker has two memory chips and its software can be easily updated. This means you can try different programs and save the ones you use the most. The electronic "heart" of the bread maker is produced in Europe and is unlike any other bread machine in the world. Being able to choose your own multiple baking and rising times and temperatures gives you complete flexibility. You don't need to buy a new machine whenever a new program comes out.

Sana Smart Bread Maker bread pan stainless steel
Sana Smart Bread Maker bread pan stainless steel

Unique stainless steel bread pan and kneaders

The Sana Smart Bread Maker standard model comes with a stainless steel bread pan and stainless steel kneaders. Through the use of professional baking technology, it´s possible to bake in stainless steel baking pan which doesn't need to be greased. This keeps the bread from burning. With stainless steel, you can be sure your bread is baked in the safest manner possible.

Kneaders and automatic batch processing

Some bread makers offer folding kneaders or automatic adding of seeds or nuts. The Sana Smart Bread Maker offers a much simpler solution: high-speed kneading! With high-speed kneading, the dough for your bread will be ready in three minutes! After that you can immediately remove the kneaders from the dough, instead of after the bread has been baked. Do you like seeds or nuts spread on top of the bread? Add these by hand after 3 minutes of kneading and you are able to spread these equally all over the bread. This way you always have perfect results.

Multiphase rising

Multiphase rising allows you set two separate rising times and temperatures. One benefit of this is that you can easily prepare homemade yeast. This is the best yeast you can possibly have - far better than what you'd get at the store. In addition, you save time and energy because you don’t have to preheat the bread maker or set a delayed start.

Versatility of Sana bread maker

Tempeh and Natto

5459-tempeh-cheese
5459-tempeh-cheese

Tempeh is a traditional Indonesian food known for both its health benefits and its unique walnut-mushroom flavor. It is typically made from soybeans, but can also be made from many other foods such as beans, sunflower seeds, peanuts, peas, rice, and wheat. Previously known mainly among vegetarians and vegans, it is now becoming more widespread and popular. It can be found in most health stores, and is gradually beginning to appear in more mainstream supermarkets. Tempeh is available unflavored, as well as marinated, smoked, and pickled.

Home made yogurt

5460-yogurt
5460-yogurt

Have you ever heard of the term “functional” foods? These are food products which, either naturally or artificially, have been enriched with healthy additives. The most widespread functional food in the world is yogurt which naturally contains probiotic bacterial cultures (Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium). Because these cultures regulate digestion and help prevent colon cancer, yogurt is considered a superfood which should be eaten daily.

Jam, tea and purees

5461-jam
5461-jam

Most bread machines are able to make jam, but this feature is something most consumers never use. It’s too bad, since it’s so easy to do that most people who’ve tried it never go back to the traditional method of making jam. All you do is put the ingredients into the pan, set the program, start it, and come back later to freshly-prepared jam. The bread maker mixes and cooks the jam for you, and you don’t end up with a stack of dirty pans to clean. This program also can make lard, pig cracklings, jelly, tea, and purees.

Home made bread

5462-sana-bread
5462-sana-bread

There are many reasons for baking bread at home, but the main ones are that you can use your own choice of ingredients and that homemade bread just tastes so much better than store-bought bread. Home-baked bread won’t have any of the chemicals or additives of store bought bread, and it won’t contain the ground remains of old bread like you can find in store-bought bread. Bread made from sourdough starter, instead of from yeast, has better flavor, aroma, and health benefits.

Meat and fish

5463-meat
5463-meat

The Sana Smart Bread is useful not just for baking bread, but as a substitute for a conventional oven. Meat and fish cooked in the Sana Smart Bread Maker are flavorful and juicy, which can’t always be said when using a conventional oven. By using a glass lid with the Smart Bread Maker, the cooking time is shortened and the meat comes out incredibly moist and delicious.

Amasake

5464-amasake
5464-amasake

Amasake is a thick and creamy traditional Japanese dessert made from fermented grains. Popular among those who follow a macrobiotic lifestyle, this creamy dessert can be enjoyed by anyone. It doesn’t contain any refined sugars or sweeteners, but gets its sweet taste from the natural fermentation process which breaks down the complex sugars. When you first taste this healthy dessert, you’ll think that someone has put sugar into it, but it really is natural.

Very good service , fast delivery considering it was international. No problems. Although I have not tried product out yet ....10/10 so far .

  • 10/10 so far no problems, although I have not tested out product yet...
  • No complaint although product has not been tested out yet .

Top rating--good friendly service, prompt delivery, and an added gift--the stainless steel was not easy to find and I thank Sana for making such a beautiful machine

  • all pros
  • no cons

Some parts of the bread machine were damaged. In consultation with the company, these documents were immediately resent. The delivery was very fast. I am very satisfied with the products. Very solid. definitely worth the money.

  • Some parts of the bread machine were damaged. In consultation with the company, these documents were immediately resent. The delivery was very fast. I am very satisfied with the products. Very solid. definitely worth the money.
  • very fast delevering. Solid products

I purchaed this mainly because of the stainless steel pan, as I couldn't find a stainless steel pan in any other machine.

So far I have used it with whole wheat bread, plus some cinnamon raisin bread. It took me while to play with the settings, as there aren't quick buttons for things like "sweet bread" or "white bread" like in my last bread machine. It is very flexible - you can change just about any setting - but it takes a while to figure out which settings work best.

One thing that I like are the glass lids. When I bake with them, the bread seems moister and I can use a lower temperature. I found that using the glass lids helps the bread not to stick to the stainless steel - just make sure to let the bread cool down before trying to remove it. My first loaf I tried to remove right away and some iof it stuck.

  • Stainless steel pans
  • Very flexible programming
  • Seems very solidly built
  • Can use very low temmperatures - we use it as a small dehydrator too
  • No quick recipe settings
  • Programming can be confusing at first

Great!

  • Excellent!

I did not receive a manual with the bread maker. I've received only some kind of small book with prescriptions for different breads. I would like to receive the manual book- I know there is available manual online, but I want it hard copy- book.

  • good quality. easy to use.
  • 1. big gaps at the joint of the two mixing fingers.
  • 2. When the bread maker finishes and shows how long was off- you cant press any button to leave this- you must switch it straight from the electric contact, otherwise if you press on/off button he machine automatically starts again with the already baked bread in it.

Excellent device I am very pleased thank you very much

It's been a slow process. Originally we tried to adapt our existing bread maker to US voltage, but we found it couldn't keep a consistent enough temperature. The new model has been in development for over a year now, and we hope it will be available by the end of next year. It will have the stainless steel pan, but also a new interface that will be much simpler to use.

Hello

The Sana Bread Maker doesn't have specific programs for these items. It is designed for the user to enter and store their own programs according to their favorites recipes. There are 7 slots for programs, and parameters can be adjusted including kneading time and speed, 2 rise times and temperatures, preheat time and temperature, and 3 bake times and temperatures.

Hello,
I just bought your bread maker Sana Standard .
I have a question about" Important safeguards"
(page 2 of the Instruction manual)
It is said :"Before baking do not forget to cure the heat element inside
the bread maker ... program No4 15mn 180°C ...."
I don't really understand why and
is it absolutely neccessary to do this before each baking ?
Thanks in advance for your answer .BR
DO ba , 20.6.2020 15:16 1 reply

Hello

The factory puts a temporary coating on the heat element. Curing the heat element just burns off any residue before your first baking. It only needs to be done once, before using the bread machine for the first time.

A frequency converter is not needed. The different frequency only affects the speed of the kneading, and then only by a small amount.

We are currently in the prototype stage of a new model for the US market which we expect to have available next year.
It's possible to import the current machine to Europe and many customers have done this, but it's not something we generally recommend due to the following factors:

1) An expensive (apprx. $90) step up voltage transfermer is needed to operate it on US 110V
2) Shipping is pricey
3) No service centers in the USA

Thank you so much,

Hi Laurie

We are currently in the prototype stage of a new model for the US market which we expect to have available next year.
It's possible to import the current machine to Europe and many customers have done this, but it's not somethign we generally recommend due to the following factors:

1) An expensive (apprx. $90) step up voltage transfermer is needed to operate it on US 110V
2) Shipping is pricey
3) No service centers in the USA

Best regards

Hi Michele

The Sana bread maker only operates on 220V 50 Hz electricity. Most houses in the USA are wired only for 110V 60 Hz. Some customers have ordered it and purchased a step-up voltage transformer in the USA. But we don't recommend it because of the lack of servie centers in the USA, and the high shipping costs.

We have a model in development that we hope to have available early next year in the USA.

Is there a gluten setting for making gluten-free breads? Thank you.
Jeanette Broderick , 6.3.2020 18:52 1 reply

There isn't a pre-programmed setting for gluten-free bread. But it is a fully-programmable machine, so you can set whatever parameters you need into one of the programs. It will store it for you there as a preset program. Typically a gluten-free cycle omits the second rise, so you would just program the mix cycle time (approx 5 minutes), rise time and temperature, and bake time and temperature according to your recipe.

Hi. I would like to check what is the return policy if the machine is defective as I would like to ship to Singapore.
Also many reviews mentioned about difficulty in removing the bread even when it cools down. I believe Sana store would have tested this part, any advice to overcome this issue?
Jean Toh , 29.2.2020 14:08 1 reply

Hello Jean

If the machine has a defect, we would replace it or refund your money, and we pay for return shipping. We also have a 14-day trial period, where it can be returned for any reason. However in that case the customer is responsible for return shipping, so it might not be too practical from Singapore.
We advise to keep the glass lids on after baking and allowing the loaf to completely cool down. Keeping the glass lids on keeps moisture in the bread (and also allows for lower baking temperatures), which helps in removing the loaf. It really depends on the type of flour used, as some flours like 100% whole grain are naturally stickier than others.

Dear Sir / Madam,

I am interested to know more about this machine.

I saw few videos but I could not understand few topics:
1) Are there programs for different bread types stored already in the machine? For I would not like to set every single step (knead, leaven, bake...) manually.

2) Is there a timer? Can I program the machine to have a certain bread type finished at certain time?

=> Can I cook the bread with the blades still in?
=> Do I need to oil the pan before cooking?

Thank you!
Vitor Figueiredo , 5.1.2020 20:29 1 reply

Hello
There are basic programs stored in the machine, but they are generally based on homemade leaven so they would need to be modified. However, you can store your own program, so it would only have to be entered once.
There is a timer. You can set a delayed start for up to ten hours.
You can cook the bread with the blades still in, but it will leave a larger hole in the bottom of the loaf.
The pan doesn't need to be oiled. But the bread must be allowed to fully cool before removing it from the pan for easier removel.

We generally advise against ordering the bread maker for the USA. It operates on European 220V 50 Hz power, and most US kitchens are wired only for 110V 60 Hz. It means you would need an expensive voltage transformer for it to work. Add in the very expensive trans-Atlantic and the lack of any North America service centers, and it gets expensive.

We do have a model in the development stage for the US market. We hope it will be available there in about a year.

Have a nice day

Hello,
Have you tried making a bread with no oil/butter? I wonder how easy it would be to remove the bread from the pan if no added fat/oils are used in the bread.
Thank you.
Anastasia Pseiridis , 7.11.2019 08:47 1 reply
Reply
It is possible - we have one recipe without any fats in the recipe book. But you're right. It would be more difficult to removed the bread cleanly. The glass lids would need to remain on the pan after baking, and the pan allowed to fully cool down to let the bread contract a bit. But most likely some bread would stick at least to the bottom of the pan.

Dan,
This is regarding our purchase of your Sana Smart Bread maker (standard) (Stainless Steel) 10-14-2019 Our order number is 2019-10-14-4897

Please send the technical specifications, schematics and the build sheet for this bread maker. As you know we live in the USA and so we need to wire a 220/240 volt outlet to power your unit. We want to install a standard US style 220/240 outlet, so we want to switch the power cord to an American style pigtail. If you do not recommend this we do want to cut off the end of the original pigtail and replace it with an American style plug. Using an adapter seems problematic, in that we are concerned about resistance over time, East Hawaii is very humid, we live in a rain forest. Please ask you tech department about our request and what they think of standardizing the power cord for your bread maker. Thank you in advance for sending us the technical specifications for this bread maker.

Hi Laurie
We hope to have it ready in 2020. We are working on a new version of the breadmaker which will be compatible with both European and US voltages.
There is no chemical treatment on the stainless steel to make it nonstick. We use lower temperature cooking with special glass lids which reduce contact points with the pan. Also, the loaf is allowed to fully cool before removal, which naturally pulls it away from the pan.

It is possible, but we don't recommend it. Trans-atlantic shipping would be very expensive (approx. 150 euros). In addition, you would need to purchase an expensive voltage converter as the bread maker operates on EU 230V 50 Hz power. Fianlly, we don't ave any service centers in North Americae, so if any service was ever needed it would need to be shipped back to Europe.
We have a model for the North American model in development and hope to have it available for sale next year.

Hi Zhen

While we have sold several bread makers in the US, we generally advise against it mainly due to the reasons you mentioned (power differences, shipping costs, possible warranty issues). We have a model in development designed for the US market and hope to have it available in about a year.

It is possible to pay with a US credit card. Shipping is expensive from Europe to the US - 120 euros. However, EU VAT taxes are automatically deducted from the price of the bread maker (apprx. 50 euros deduction).
The warranty policy is the same as in Europe (2 years), but shipping would be expensive to send it back if any service was needed.

You would need a "Step-up power transformer" which converts 110
volt North American power to 220/230 volt European power. These have
North American power outlets built in so you would use the EU cable.
The bread machine is 810 watts, and it's usualy recommended to get a
transformer that has 50% more capacity (1500 watts is even better). These transformers look
something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008GQTXNU/ref=psdc_10967671_t2_B000J1ANSY?th=1
It's possible you already have a 220 volt outlet in your house.
Many large appliances in North America like washing machines operate
on 220 volt power. You'd recognize it by the sort of rounded shape
of the plug. In this case you'd just need a cheap plug adaptor that
plugs into the outlet and has holes for the EU plug.

But again, it is a lot of hoops to jump through :)

Hello

Thank for your interest in the Sana bread maker. While we don't offer installment payments as an option, it is possible some other sellers do.

Have a nice day

Hi I’m from Malaysia, I assume our volt system can operate your bread maker? And also do u send to Malaysia? Thanks...

Hello

Malaysia has the same voltage so the bread machine will operate fine. However, you will need a plug adaptor to adapt from EU 3-prong (Type E) to Malaysian outlet (Type G).
We ship to Malaysia - you can select Malaysia as the destination country and shipping costs will be shown there before payment.

Hello

We are working on a new version of the Smart Bread Maker designed to operate on 110V US power. We hope it will be available in late 2019.

Best regards

Do you ship to us?
If so how much?
Will it plug into standard us outlet?
Please let me know thanks

Hello Lindsay

Unfotunately the Smart bread maker is designed to operate on European 230 V power only. We have a model in development that we hope to release later next year that will operate on US 110V power.

Thanks

Hi Jen

Unfortunately the Sana Smart breadmaker is designed only to operate under European 230 volt systems. We are working on a model for US voltages, and hope to have it available next year.

Have a nice day

Hello,
I live in America, can I buy this?
Can you ship your bread maker to me in California? Will it work with a converter for you plug or is it an issue for the bread machine to work?
I really want your bread machine, can this work for me?

Sincerely,
Juliet

Hi Juliet

Thank you for your interest in our bread machine. Unfortunately it is only designed to operate at European voltages (230 volt 60 Hz.) We have some customers from the states using them with a step-up transformer (which converts 230 volts to 110 volts), but it needs to be pretty heavy-duty (we recommend one rated for 2000 watts). Also, shipping to the states from Europe would be pretty pricey.

We do have a next-generation machine in the works that we hope will be availble next year. It will feature dual-voltage for USA compatability.

Have a nice day

Going to use the bread maker for the first time, found that there's some silicone/soft plastic/seal paste alike appeared around the bottom of the kneading posts which exposed above the pan base level, and therefore will definitely in contact with the ingredients, what's the thing? And if that's harmful if ingest? Thanks.

Hello Ming

If it is the stainless steel pan, that is not normal as there should be nothing there. If it is the teflon (dark) pan, there should be a recessed circular opening with a white gasketset inside. It should be level with the bottom of the pan (filling the circular hole around the kneading posts) and acts as a gasket to prevent any liquid from dripping down the posts.

If it is something else, can you send me a photo (dan@eujuicers.com).

Thank you

hi, do you have store in Australia? And do you send to Australia?
fenny ho , 3.9.2018 12:33 1 reply

Hello
We don't have a store in Australia, as our focus in on EU countries. It is possible to ship to Australia, but the delivery costs tend to be high. However, EU VAT taxes of apprx. 20% are deducted from the product price, so that helps make up for the high shipping cost.
You can see the final pricing by putting an item into the cart and selecting Australia as the destination.

Hi, Bought the bread maker years ago, haven't got a chance to use it. Taking it out from the cupboard today and planning to start making bread with it for my toddlers. Just wondering if it's still possible to make bread out of it without using homemade leaven? I found the recipes came with the maker are all referring of using homemade leaven. Can you please suggest any alternative and the easiest setting for a basic loaf of bread for me as a new starter? Many thanks.

Hello
It's definitely possible to use with normal dry yeast. I do it all the time. Simply omit the second rising phase, and make the first rising phase longer (pprox. 25 minutes at 28C).
We have a video with a basic bread recipe,, and you can see there also the instructions in case you use dry yeast. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uivav5Gy8mI

Does it have a program for gluten free bread and cake?
Margot Pascht , 17.8.2018 17:15 1 reply

There isn't a pre-programmed setting for gluten-free bread. But it is a fully-programmable machine, so you can set whatever parameters you need into one of the programs. It will store it for you there as a preset program. Typically a gluten-free cycle omits the second rise, so you would just program the mix cycle time (approx 5 minutes), rise time and temperature, and bake time and temperature according to your recipe.

It uses dual removable kneaders driven directly through the bottom of the pan.

I use a Panasonic breadmaker successfully and want to stop using it because of the teflon coated bread pan. I like the light, fluffy bread that I am able to make and the Sana breadmaker seems to make a more solid loaf (I only use organic strong white or 70 % wholemeal organic flour with 30% white). I mostly use just the dough settings and make my own rolls, either standard bread rolls or enriched dough with milk, egg and sugar. These, too, are light and fluffy. Is it possible to use the Sana bread maker to achieve results like this?
Christine UK , 24.7.2018 20:14 1 reply

Hi Christine

Panasonic makes good bread machines, but I understand the desire to get away from Teflon. The Sana breadmaker should be able to achieve similar results, as you can program each parameter (multiple phases of time, temperature, rising, kneading speed, etc.) It usually takes a few tries to achieve the best results, and as you know a lot depends on the flour and yeast. It's much easier to get light and fluffy results with white flour. Most of the loaves I make are from whole flour and tend to be much denser and more solid, although I made some cinnamon raisin bread with white flour and it was pretty fluffy.

We are hoping to have a 110-volt US version before the end of the year, but that project has been delayed many times as the heating element is designed for more powerful 220 volt systems and keeping the temperature steady is crucial. We will post an update on our Facebook page as soon as we get the good news hat the engineers have worked things out :-)
